Lots of cd player programs are able to display title and track information while playing a cd. This is made possible by connecting a cd database server with this information via the internet each time a new cd is inserted. There are several such database server - commercial and non-commercial.

JeFCo is a helper application that sits between the cd player application and the database server. This decouples these applications and brings you many advantages:

You need not to be connected to the internet at the moment a new cd is inserted. The title and track information is fetched later by JeFCo. This gives you the independence to connect the database server the time you like.
The cd information is not requested one by one. You can store the number of cd information requests you like and collect them all at once. That reduces your online times and costs.
The cd information is stored player independent. If you change your player application (or even your operating system) all of your collected cd information is still available on your computer.
You can store, transfer and exchange your collected disc information and information requests. This also gives you the possibility to get the requested information from a different computer than the computer with the cd player.
Most player applications use a fixed database server. If you don't like this server - because it is commercial or has only a small database - you can tell JeFCo to use the server of your choice. You may even use a list of servers to benefit from a bigger data repository.
There is a huge free database with cd information available for download at freedb.org. JeFCo enables you to use this database offline even if your player is only capable of receiving cd information online.
The free database files with cd information available for download at freedb.org can be used without unpacking with JeFCo.
