List Engine 1.0.70331 Description:

The List Engine widget provides quick access to short lists and other reference information. That's it. The List Engine reads the data source (list file) but does not allow editing of it.

List Engine has the ability to change the way the data is displayed and capture a little bit of extra information about the list (e.g. a title). In future (as time/motivation) permits I (we?) hope to add simple manipulation features such as sorting, grouping, drill through/down, hyperlinks.

What "inspired" List Engine development was two particular lists that I continually found myself going to a drawer for or pulling up a hefty spreadsheet (I have little love for spreadsheets).

After thinking about it, it seemed perfect for a widget - especially if it could be programmed to go after databases (but that'll have to wait for another version). I think a wiki syntax cheat sheet is gonna be my next List!

The List Engine widget enables you to work with list files straight from your desktop.

· Support for flat file CSV (comma separated values), TAB (09) delimited, Pipe | delimited, normal text; with more to come (hopefully - see the Developer notes).
· HTML table data retrieval; early ability to "select" from SQLite tables.
· Choice of 12 themes; fonts, font sizes, other.
· Individual List attributes saved, customizable through Preferences


Known Bugs
· If the widget is near the right edge of the screen and you try to resize it beyond the edge, it stops you. The bug happens when you move the widget to another position on the screen and then try to resize it. It does not know it has moved.
· Attempting to read foreign language characters from SQLite crashes the widget. Not sure if this is a LE or Konfabulator bug.
