News/X Description:

Mabry's News/X OCX and COM objects offers a powerful and flexible way to handle news (NNTP) messages. Advanced features, such as XOver headers, are fully supported. And News/X's Groups objects which contain Articles objects, which in turn contain Articles, make managing groups and articles very easy. Entire sets of articles for any group can easily be downloaded, and left untouched in that Group as other groups are accessed.

News/X uses Mabry's Encoder/X, Mime/X, and Stream objects, making it easy for you to handle today's complex (MIME) messages which are often posted. And Mime/X and the Stream objects make storing and retrieving articles from disk or other data stores a breeze.

Pop/X and Smtp/X also use the same Mime/X, Encoder/X and Stream objects. Learn one, know them all!

News/X provides both blocking and non-blocking modes. And for the ultimate in speed when running non-blocking modes you can use News/X's FastNotification interface, which is roughly 50 times faster than using Event-based notifications.

How To Read Articles:
1. Set Server Host name
2. Set LogonName - Many News Servers, such as news.microsoft.com and news.mabry.com, do not require either a LogonName or LogonPassword. Usually the only times you need those are for paid news servers or for your ISP's News Server.
3. Set LogonPassword
4. Set Blocking/non-blocking
5. If you have to go through a firewall, set: Firewall Hostname, Firewall LogonName, Firewall LogonPW, Firewall Port, Firewall Type
6. Connect
7. Use GetAllGroups method or GetNewGroups Method to get the groups available on the server. They will be placed in the NewsGroups collection or NewGroups Collection
8. SelectGroup method
9. Use the GetHeaders method to see what articles are available.
10. GetArticles method to get the articles from the selected group. Articles will be placed in the Articles collection. Articles will have the following properties: ArticleID property, Article Number property, Message (the body of the article) property.
11. Disconnect.
