SimpleLPR 1.0.1.2 Description:

SimpleLPR is a software component aimed at Spanish vehicle license plate recognition. It has a very simple application programming interface that allows applications to supply a path to an image and to get in return the detected license plate number and its position in the image. This way, you will be able to identify all the license plates you need.

It can be used from any COM enabled programming language such as C++, Java, Visual Basic .NET, C#, VB Script or JScript. Integration is simple and straightforward as demonstrated in the examples supplied with the SDK.

Typical successful detection rates range from 85% to 95% provided that license plates are in good condition, unoccluded and their characters are taller than 32 pixels.

SimpleLPR is shipped as COM server dll. To make it available for applications it must be first installed into the system registry. To register the component you can use the supplied register.bat batch script.

To check that the component has been properly registered click on the ".samplesVBScriptDetect.vbs" file. A message box displaying the recognition results for the sample license plate picture should pop up.

To integrate SimpleLPR into your own application it is recommended that you first have a look at the samples included in the SDK. Examples are provided for the C#, C++ and VBScript programming languages.

Pictures can be supplied in either JPEG, TIFF or BMP formats.

NOTE: The current version of SimpleLPR ONLY SUPPORTS SPANISH LICENSE PLATES. Square, trailer and diplomatic personnel license plates are also not supported.
