SpaceCheck is a small utility designed to notify a user when their disk usage situation exceeds certain administrator defined bounds.These are:

- Total space used by the user on a volume is > X
- Available space on a volume falls below X
- Total space in a directory and sub directories exceeds X (eg home dir)
- Space available in a directory falls below X (eg checking disk limits)

Any one of these conditions, along with the value of X and a user defined message, can be set up by the administrator. If the user isn't exceeding any limits it will be invisible to them.

SpaceCheck can be also run in a number of ways, depending on your site. It could be :

- Run from the login script
- Launched via the NAL window as a "Force Run" job
- Executed through the Zenworks or Active Directory group policy
- Called from a scheduling tool
