TxPlan 1.01 Description:

TxPlan is a software that creates simple transponder frequency plan diagrams It can be used to illustrate the layout of transponders on a satellite, or the layout of carriers within a transponder

To use TxPlan, run the program, then choose "Open..." in the "File" menu, and select the text input file containing details of the carriers within the transponder. TxPlan will then display the transponder plan diagram.

To save the transponder plan diagram as a bitmap image, choose "SaveBMP..." from the "File" menu, and select the folder and enter a file name. The BMP image file is basically a screen capture of the image in the window. So changing the size of the window will change the size of the file saved. You can use any image processing program to convert the BMP image to JPG or GIF or whatever you need.

The input files use a simple plain text format. The first line of every file is used as the title text at the top of the diagram.

Then each following line of the file includes carrier data in the order:

These three items can be separated by tabs or spaces or commas. The frequency units must be MHz. The bandwidth units must be kHz. Blank lines are ignored.

So if you have a spreadsheet with columns in that order, you can save as a tab separated text file and then load into TxPlan to plot.

By default, the diagram is drawn so that the transponder starts at the lower edge of the lowest frequency carrier and ends at the upper edge of the highest frequency carrier. The user can specify the upper and lower bounds of the transponder diagram by including in the file a line beginning with the letter 'F', followed by the lower and upper frequency bounds, separated by tabs, spaces or commas. The letter F must be the first character on the line.

Some sample input files are included in the TxPlan program folder when the program is installed.

NOTE:

The current version of TxPlan is provided for general use free of charge. It is not necessary to register the software at all. In the future, if new features and enhancements are added, then it may become necessary to introduce a registration fee to help cover costs.
